Every year our staff choose a charity to support and at the beginning of 2023 we chose Charlie House HQ.
Charlie House improve the quality of life for children in the North-east of Scotland who have life-limiting or life-threatening conditions. In North-east Scotland, there are around 1,800 babies, children and young people living with a life-limiting or life-threatening condition. Despite this high number, the closest support centre to Aberdeen is over 100 miles away. With this in mind Charlie House was founded in 2011 with the goal of improving the quality of life for babies, children and young people in the North-east of Scotland who have life-limiting or life-threatening conditions and to provide support for them and their families. They believe that every child should receive a smooth transition from hospital to home, practical and emotional support for themselves and their family, access to inclusive activities, help to live life to the full and make memories for the whole family to treasure. That is why they decided to build Charlie House, a dedicated support centre situated in the grounds of Woodend Hospital Aberdeen. To date they have managed to raise over £5 million out of the £8 million to build Charlie House and with less than half of the funds left to raise, are committed to making Charlie House a reality and ensuring families receive the support they deserve.
We took part in a number of events including the May Day car boot sale in Huntly, an internal cake bake sale and a team of staff took part in the Beast Race, Banchory which involves tackling a 10k course with 30 obstacles and we also raffled off hampers at local shows including Oldmeldrum Sports, Keith Show and New Deer Show.
This week, we were delighted to hand over £7525.84 to Jenna from Charlie House!
Thank you to everyone who donated throughout the year!
Together, we can provide vital support for these children and their families while helping them create memories for the whole family to treasure.
