Dean’s and Rizza’s announce world’s first truly melt in the mouth shortbread
Aberdeenshire based bakers Dean’s today announced a collaboration with Rizza’s ice cream to develop the world’s first, truly melt in the mouth shortbread. The two Huntly based companies have joined forces to adapt Helen Dean’s original recipe to include Rizza’s ice cream and ensure a complete melt in the mouth sensation.
Using ground-breaking technology, Rizza’s ice cream will be added along with the butter and before the shortbread is baked. Dean’s brand new, specially adapted oven ensures that the ice cream does not melt before it reaches the mouth of the customer.
Dean’s managing director, Bill Dean said “We are so proud to have created the world’s first literally, melt in the mouth in shortbread and delighted that our friends at Rizza’s ice cream have helped us achieve this remarkable feat. Technology is the real star here, without our new oven, none of this would have been possible.”
The new shortbread will be available from the summer this year. Please note that you will find Dean’s new shortbread in the freezer aisle of your local supermarket. It will also need to be stored in the freezer at home rather than your Dean’s shortbread tin.
